The Anthony's Pub Bare Bones duathlon was again a success!  Thanks to all volunteers and sponsors for making the event a success!  Club member Adrienne Stedford was the women's champion, and last year men's champion, Scott Tremblay finished a strong 2nd.

The race started an hour earlier than previous years, and the weather was almost perfect on Saturday afternoon.  The day started with lots of sunshine and little wind until the race was over.  There was a short spell of rain at McLean Creek Road during the bike component to add some spice to the race.  Athletes came from as far away as Calgary, Rossland, and Vancouver to compete in this the 16th annual Anthony’s Pub Bare Bones duathlon.  Dallas Cain of Rossland started with a good run, then followed it with a blazing bike ride to take first place into the second run, and continue on for his first Anthony’s Pub Bare Bones Duathlon win in 1:24:09.  Scott Tremblay of Kaleden, last years winner, put in a consistent first run and bike, then chased down Dallas for second place overall at 1:24:33.   Nathan Champness of Vernon was 3rd, followed by Canadian Olympic distance runner Graham Hood.  For the women, Penticton’s Adrienne Stedford paced herself on the first run, followed by a solid bike ride, then passed Heather Johnson during the second 5k run for her first Anthony’s Pub Bare Bones win in 1:35:52!  Adrienne did very well winning the race, having just returned from racing the Wildflower Half Ironman in California the previous weekend.  Heather Johnson of Fruitvale held on to second in 1:37:17, and third went to Carolyn Hubbard in 1:38:36.

Thanks go out to the race sponsors Anthony’s Pub, the Bike Barn, Peach City Runners, H2O to Go, Swagman Bike Racks, Best Choice Car Rentals, Peach Classic Triathlon Society, Penticton Pounders, Steve and Jean King, Don Gemmell, Dairy Queen, Save-On Foods, and all of the volunteers through the Penticton Triathlon club.

There was a very large turnout of local athletes participating.
